Introduce Plastic Injection Molding (PIM) into a classroom/shop?

Really cool kit at www.techkits.com

I wonder if a low melt plastic could be molded into a mold that was 3D printed in a higher melt temperature plastic?

  1. Sure why not. There are a lot of rubbers out there.

Here's a video that talks about different types of RTV mold rubbers... mold http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRwnMIbHQqA

In your case you already would have a mold and would be using the RTV material to create your cast from.

You could also do a resin cast in you 3d printed mold http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kP1Nij-elyQ

I hope you post what you make.

  2. The rtv would be ok but resin would be better. Also in Making things move book she mentions some castable products that I want to try. Just need a printer first.
